The Warehouse
Theatre Company is proud of our tradition of outreach into the community
which the company has been pursuing for the whole of its 35 year history,
and we
are constantly seeking new ways to develop this work.
Outreach is achieved
in a number of ways:
1 Youth Group
Our youth group CRYPT has been in existence for thirty years
and provides
a valuable programme for 13 -18 year-olds of all backgrounds.
Many past members
stay in touch with us - and have worked for us on occasion -
allowing us to follow their career path
2 Children
WarehouseTheatre4Kidz provides a diverse range of theatre productions
on selected Saturday mornings for children between 3 and 9 years.
There are also special programmes at Christmas
and Easter
and specialised workshop sessions over the Easter period.
3 Schools' Workshops
We offer special workshops to schools for many of our productions.
Various
schemes help to encourage teachers to bring pupils to see a performance.
Actors
also visit schools for follow up workshops.
We can also taylor workshops to
suit teachers needs.
An
intensive and very successful series of workshops were held in conjunction
with our production Knock Down Ginger in June/July 03.
Workshops will continue to be held
on our programme of plays throughout the year
Loud
& Clear is another project that was run successfully
in March 05 and
have repeated since.
It aims to provide its participants
with life long
learning skills in a fun and safe environment
Anyone between the ages of 14
-16 years
with English as a second language can join in and the workshops are FREE
4 Work Experience
Placements
We run a work placement scheme
that is always oversubscribed.
Students, after their placement, often come back to the theatre
as volunteers or part-time staff and also contact us for career advice.
5 Warehouse Writers'
Workshops
As a new-writing theatre we
hold regular workshops for writers
and the work from the group is shown in the annual International Playwriting
Festival (IPF)
6 Programming
We aim to be fully accessible to our culturally
diverse community
and this is reflected in our rigorous integrated casting
policy.
7 Discussion
Nights
We hold a free post-show
discussion in the auditorium on the last Wednesday of each run
which provides
an opportunity to meet with and question
the writer, actors, director and
designer of the production.
8 Talks
Our Artistic Director, Ted Craig, is a popular
speaker
and regularly gives talks to Rotary, Townswomen's Guilds and other
groups -
please call to check his availability
